Having been disappointed with their exit from the senior championship earlier in the week Donaghmore Ashbourne bounced back straight away with a comprehensive win over St. Colmcille's in the Division 2 FL.
By the end of the third minute the game was almost over as a contest with goals from Eoin Reilly and Eoin Carroll and points from John Broderick and Ian Dowd giving Donaghmore Ashbourne an eight point lead. By the end of the first quarter Donaghmore Ashbourne lead by 3-05 to 0-04 with Kevin Lanigan getting the third goal. Both sides traded points in the second quarter but Donaghmore Ashbourne had the final say as David Morgan fired home on the stroke of half time to give a 4-07 to 0-07 lead.
Donaghmore Ashbourne continued to show their dominance in the second period and were much the better team as the home side struggled to contain the visitors running and passing game. During this period the visitors managed to add a further thirteen points while the home side only managed a score from play and a free in the third quarter. The final score of the match fell to John Broderick as he opened the defence and fired low into the corner in the final minute.
