AFL star Hanley returns to his roots

Brisbane Lions rookie Pearce Hanley made a sensational return to club football championahip action in Mayo at the weekend.
The 20-year-old, who quit John O'Mahony's senior team last year to try his luck in Australian Rules, came off the bench after 15 minutes of Ballaghadreen's 1-12 each quarter-final draw with Ballintubber in Castlebar on Saturday night.
The Roscommon-border club trailed by six points at one stage, but gradually clawed their way back and took the lead through an Andy Moran goal before his county colleague Alan Dillon rescued a draw for Ballintubber with converted free in injury-time.
2001 All-Ireland club champions Crossmolina became the first team to qualify for the semi-finals when they defeated Breaffy by 2-10 to 1-10. Joining them in the last four are Charlestown, who overcame Castlebar Mitchels 2-12 to 1-14, while Claremorris were surprise five-point winners over Knockmore.
