O'Sullivan: Deises must up their game

September 05, 2008
Cork's Diarmuid O'Sullivan believes that Waterford will need to up the performance considerably from their defeat of Tipperary last month if they are to pip Kilkenny to this year's All-Ireland crown. The Rebels full-back is siding with another All-Ireland title for Brian Cody's men this Sunday, but has no doubt that Waterford will be out to prove him and others wrong at Croke Park. "You would have to go for Kilkenny," said O'Sullivan. "Waterford have beaten the hoodoo of losing semi-finals so now they can just go out and play for 70 minutes without a care in the world. Having experienced first-hand what Kilkenny are capable this summer, O'Sullivan thinks that Davy Fitzgerald's Waterford outfit will need to raise their game considerably if they are to stop the Black Cats in their three-in-a-row title bid. "They'll have to play 30 or 40 per cent better then they did against Tipperary. "They'll really have to up their game against this Kilkenny side. "Kilkenny are a great team, but every team can be beaten. Any team can be beaten in a two horse race. "If Waterford believe enough in themselves they can win it, but they will have to play with pressure, speed and intensity throughout."
