Dempsey linked with Laois role

September 05, 2008
Former Westmeath and Longford supremo Luke Dempsey is set to be interviewed for the vacant Laois manager's job as early as next week. Dempsey is reportedly the only candidate from outside the county that has been put forward by the sub-committee as the county board sets about finding a replacement for Liam Kearns, who departed following the exit from the qualifiers. "We're conducting interviews this week starting on Wednesday night and we're hoping to have it sorted soon enough," said Larry Doone, chairman of the Laois County Board. Dempsey has close links with Laois as his brother is heavily involved with the Mountmellick club, while former county selector Declan O'Loughlin is his brother-in-law.
