Kevin McGourty could return to senior team
November 30, 2007
St. Gall's star forward, Kevin McGourty could be in line for a recall to the Antrim senior county set-up, while his younger brother C. J. McGourty is expected to miss the start of next season's national football league due to injury.
Kevin McGourty is expected to meet county team-manager Jody Gormley over the coming days to discuss his possible return to the senior county scene.
The player did not attend three county trials organised by new manager Gormley citing Sigerson Cup commitments with Queen's and the county were deprived of one of their best players for the entire season.
McGourty went on to win Sigerson Cup honours after losing three previous finals, but was not called upon to represent the county team.
The St. Gall's clubman has been in outstanding form this season in his club's impressive run to the Ulster club final, and their eventual defeat by Crossmaglen Rangers. It is understood that the player would now relish a return to the inter-county scene in 2008.
