Laois took a step closer towards promotion to Division 3 in the Allianz Football League thanks to a 2-12 to 0-9 win over London in Portlaoise tonight.

Evan O’Carroll and Kevin Swayne supplied the O’Moore men’s goals in the second-half as they made it five wins from five in the bottom tier and condemned the Exiles to their fourth loss in the process.

In Netwatch Cullen Park, Wexford dealt a major blow to Carlow’s promotion hopes after recording a 1-14 to 0-7 victory against the hosts.

After an airtight first-half saw the sides go in on 0-4 apiece, the Slaneysiders pulled clear in the closing quarter and Niall Hughes’s goal on 69 minutes secured their third win in Division 4.
