Newly-appointed Wexford senior hurling manager Keith Rossiter has named an impressive backroom team which includes legendary goalkeeper Damien Fitzhenry.
Rossiter, who managed the U20s for the past two seasons, was ratified for a three-year term at Tuesday night’s county board meeting along with head coach David Franks, assistant coach Eanna Martin, skills coach Frank Flannery and goalkeeping coach Fitzhenry.
Former Offaly hurler Franks ended his playing career with Carrickshock in Kilkenny before coaching Ballygunner to All-Ireland club glory in 2022. Franks is currently coaching his home club Carrigtwohill, having had spells with the Cork, Waterford and Westmeath inter-county teams. He also managed the Oulart-The Ballagh team which finally won a Leinster club SHC title in 2015 with Rossiter lining out at full back.
Fitzhenry needs no introduction to anyone in Wexford after winning an All-Ireland SHC medal in 1996 and playing for the county at senior level for 17 years. Eanna Martin also kept goals for the Model County for 14 seasons before retiring in 2020.
