Naomh Éanna captured their second ever Wexford senior hurling championship title this evening by Oylegate-Glenbrien on a 2-18 to 2-12 score-line at Chadwicks Wexford Park.
Played before a 6,800 attendance at the Wexford Town venue, this county final was honours even at the halfway stage on 1-8 apiece before Oylegate-Glenbrien made the perfect restart.
Podge Doran’s goal came off the back of a perfectly played pass from Conor Heffernan and left Des Mythen side knocking on the door of a first county senior hurling crown for their club in an even six decades.
Naomh Éanna responded like champions though, sending over points via Charlie McGuckin (2) and Conor McDonald before the latter hammered the sliotar into the Oylegate-Glenbrien net on 45 minutes.
They'd stretch their lead with points from Jack Cullen and Padraig Doyle (free) prior to Doyle and Cathal Dubar making it a seven-point game with five minutes to go.
From there, the Gorey men simply wouldn’t be caught as their first Dr RJ Bowe Cup since 2018 was safely secured.
