Junior 2 Football Championship. 

Round 1 

Ballycomoyle made the trip to Ballynacargy Gaa Grounds on Saturday last 25/7/26 to take on Loughnavalley in the first round of the junior 2 Football Championship.

Playing into a strong breeze in the first half it was the Bal lads that struck first with a fine point after one minute of play but the Valley were soon level with a point of their own playing with the aid of the strong breeze. Loughnavalley used the breeze to their advantage kicking two 2 pointers in first half but the Ballycomoyle lads playing very well kept themselves in the game kicking over excellent points against a strong breeze as referee Derek Heffernan sounded the Half time whistle it was the Valley that held the lead on score line of.

Loughnavalley. 0-12

Ballycomoyle. 0-06.

As the second half started the Ballycomoyle lads started very well and with 3 minutes gone they struck for the first goal of the game and now there was only 3 points between the teams they followed it up with another point to leave only 2 points between the teams.

The Bal lads were now playing well and on the 42th minute they buried their second goal of the game to take the lead for only the second time in the match. Loughnavalley were soon level with a point of their own in the 47th minute from a free they followed up with another point but the changing of the game came when Loughnavalley struck for their first goal in the game. The Ballycomoyle lads put over a nice point but unfortunately for our lads it was Loughnavalley who finished the game with the final 2 points of the game to run out winners.

Loughnavalley. 1- 17

Ballycomoyle. 2-08.

It's now down to our lads to get back on track in our final two Matches to get into the knockout stages of this year's junior 2 Football Championship.

Under 8 and Under 10.

On Saturday morning last 25/7/26. Ballycomoyle girls attended a Under 8 and Under 10 girls go games in Coralstown/Kinnegad We played The Downs, Killucan and Corlastown/Kinnegad in a very well organised blitz. Our young girls showed great skill and team spirit in their games.Thanks to all the young girls and their parents that travelled to Kinnegad and we hope all the girls had a great morning of football and fun!

 

Under 14 Boys Result.

On Wednesday evening last 21/7/26. Ballycomoyle welcomed Garrycastle to Ballycomoyle pitch for what proved to be a highly competitive and physical encounter.

Ballycomoyle came out all guns blazing from the throw-in. Full of motivation and determination, they showcased excellent skill and teamwork, earning a draw game at half time. 

The second half saw the momentum shift as Garrycastle, a big, physically strong side, battled their way back into the game. They gradually closed the gap before edging ahead in the closing stages to secure the victory.

While the result was disappointing for Ballycomoyle, there were many positives to take from the performance. The players showed tremendous commitment, skill and resilience throughout a very physical contest. It was an excellent display of sport from both teams and another valuable learning experience for Ballycomoyle as they continue to develop.

Result.

Our Under-14 girls took on Kilbeggan Shamrocks last Thursday on a warm, sunny evening. The girls put on an outstanding performance from start to finish. The first half was a closely contested battle, with very little separating the teams.

In the second half, our girls really found another gear and produced some excellent football, showing great teamwork, determination, and skill. A huge thank you to our five Under-12 girls who played up and were a fantastic asset to the team. Every single player gave their all and played to the best of their ability, and their hard work was reflected on the scoreboard.

Congratulations to all the girls on another great win. It’s a fantastic start to our championship campaign—keep up the great work!

Our next game will be against St Joseph’s on Tuesday the 4th of August
