Under 14 Division 1 Shield Semi Final

Well done to our Under 14's who beat Coralstown/Kinnegad in the Division 1 Shield semi Final on Sunday  morning in Ballinagore on a scoreline of 5-10 to 4-06. Our underage officials and coaches deserve huge credit as we also qualified for county finals at under 16 and minor level this year as well as having a thriving underage nursery from under 8 up to under 12 level.

ST. MALACHY’S 1-9
ROSEMOUNT 1-6

St. Malachy’s Football Club won an underage title for the first time since 1967 when they annexed the under 12 title in sunny Hogan Park, Moate on Saturday afternoon, August 31st. They defeated a gallant Rosemount after a titanic struggle on the scoreline of 1-9 to 1-6.
Malachy’s held a lead of 0-7 to 0-1 at half time after playing great attacking football.
Rosemount looked a transformed team in the second half and the teams were level at 1-4 to 0-7 apiece with ten minutes remaining. The game looked destined for a replay going into the final minute of ordinary time. The vital break came for Malachy’s when centre forward Stephen Corcoran went on a blistering solo run, evading a number of opponents on the way, before blasting the ball to the net for a match winning goal.
