Ladies league final

Our ladies footballers take on Mullingar Shamrocks in the Division 3 league final next Sunday, October 13 at 12 noon. A venue has yet to be confirmed, but all support for the team would be greatly appreciated as they endeavour to finish the year on a high.

MFC Division 3 Shield final

Our first year back on our own at minor level ended with a 0-10 to 3-14 defeat to Multyfarnham in the Division 3 (13-a-side) Shield final last Saturday evening.

Originally fixed for Ballynacargy, the final was moved on Friday to the 3G pitch in Lakepoint Park. The horrendous weather made conditions extremely difficult for both sides, but there was no denying Multy’s superiority as they pulled away for a comfortable victory in the second half.

Fitter and physically stronger, the winners only led by three points at the break, but the result was never in doubt after they swooped for two goals early in the second half. We congratulate Multy on their success and also say well done to our lads and their mentors James ‘Bomber’ Claffey and Larry Claffey for their efforts this year.

Team: Adam Ward; Eoin Dixon, Mark Wrafter; Conor Carroll, Aidan Stone, Padraig Carton; Cathal Maher, James Hanlon; Danny Scully, Cathal Finn, Micheal Coffey; Senan Claffey, Joey O’Neill. Subs: Jamie Fuller, Ciaran Coffey, Brian McMahon and Jack Mullins.

Scor na nOg returns

With the long evenings closing in, Scor na nOg practice starts back this Tuesday, October 8 at 7pm in St James’ Hall for one hour.

Anyone under 17 is welcome to take part and any parent or adult who would like to help between now and the end of November please come along and see what’s involved. We really need adults to help out and promote Scor in our community, no experience in acting or singing is required!

We are looking for positive helpers to encourage young people to get on stage and have fun. For more details, text Fiona on 087 9458045 or keep an eye on the Kilbeggan Scor Facebook.

Wedding bells

Congratulations to Finbar Coffey and Aisling Lambe on their marriage last Friday. Part of a great Kilbeggan GAA family, Finbar has lined out for us for many years and is a mentor to our U10s.
