Westmeath are keeping their fingers crossed that John Heslin will be fit for their All-Ireland Round 4A qualifier against Fermanagh on Saturday week.
The St. Loman's clubman was only able to line out in yesterday's Leinster final defeat by Dublin after having a pain-killing injection for an ankle injury before the throw-in. Having operated as a lone attacker for long periods of the game, he was eventually substituted in the 62nd minute.
The Lake County's other marquee forward, Kieran Martin, was also hampered by injury, while John Connellan - who was named the start - was injured in the warm-up and was unable to take any part. Midfielder Darragh Daly was also unable to play due to injury, while second half substitute Callum McCormack's comeback from a hamstring injury only lasted 12 minutes.
