Davy Fitzgerald is confident that Waterford can put their Allianz Hurling League woes behind them.

The Deise host Kilkenny in their final Division 1A game this weekend, but their manager was already looking to the Munster SHC after defeat to Wexford last Sunday consigned them to second-tier league hurling next year.

"Wexford deserved the win, no complaints, and whatever bit of stick we've coming for us that's fine," Fitzgerald told RTÉ.

"We've a few weeks to go, it's six weeks away yet. Lads have to get a bit more training time and match time; there's a lot of guys to come back into this fold.

"I know we'll be written off and that's fine but never say never, we'll be fighting hard."
