Frankie Duffy - Unsung Hero
Congratulations to Frankie Duffy who is An Mhaigh G.A.C.'s Unsung Hero for the month of March. After marking the occasion of his birthday last week, this accolade will now give Frankie further cause for celebration!
As one of our honorary Presidents and longest serving club officials, it is great to see Frankie still going strong and working as hard as ever for the betterment of his beloved T'r na nÓgs. Even after half a century's involvement with the Moy club, President Duffy is still taking photographs, collecting vital club information, selling merchandise, attending meetings, acting as steward at club events and match days, organising club Masses, liaising with our Priests and other important community representatives, and continuing to improve the image of our club.
These few words could never do justice to a man who has given a life-time service to gaelic games in the Moy. Known the length and breadth of Tyrone, and with friends across many parts of Ulster and Ireland, he represents all that is good about the GAA. In the eyes of many people, Frankie Duffy is Mister An Mhaigh T'r na nÓg G.A.C.
If you would like to nominate anyone for our club's Unsung Hero of the Month, please contact myself or any member of the club committee. Please state the name of the person who you wish to nominate and the reason for your choice.

Celebrations were the order of choice for Cill Iseal gaels during the past week with both the Youth Presentation Night and
Banquet taking place. The Youth Night was first up and was held in the community centre on Wednesday 24th February and a good crowd turned out to see our various youth players and teams collect their awards for their efforts in 2009. Brendan Rafferty, chairman, welcomed all players and parents to the presentation and hailed the success that the youth teams had achieved last year; Boys U-16 Grade 4 League, Girls U-16 Grade 1 League and Championship and Minor Grade 1 Championship. Without doubt the aforementioned groups of players brought great honour to the club last year, but the rest of our very talented youth teams were not forgotten with every age group receiving deserved recognition for the time and effort they invested all season. All managers were also commended for their dedication to their respective teams and we are thankful to them for guiding their teams so well. Thanks also to the parents of all our youth players for the part they play in ensuring their children are always so keen to represent our club in the green and white jersey. The various individual award winners on the evening were; U-14 Boys: Nathan Breen. U-16 Boys: Eoghain Donaghy. U-18 Boys: Barry Mulgrew. U-14 Girls: Emma-Louise Mulgrew. U-16 Girls: Ursla Magee. U-18 Girls: Michelle Monaghan. Congratulations to all. (Overall Youth Boys and Girls to be announced at Saturday nights Banquet). A special word of thanks and small presentation were made to Ciaran Gourley Tyrone Mens senior, Claire Scullion Tyrone Ladies senior & Cill Iseal and Brenda Mellon of the Tyrone Ladies County Board for making the numerous presentations and for their kind words as well. Thanks are also extended to ladies who prepared and served the tea and refreshments making it a very enjoyable night for all indeed. Thanks also to everyone involved in organising the night and for making it such a great success.
During the course of the Youth Night Eugene Monaghan, Youth Officer, made reference to the GAA's 'Gaelic Start' programme. This is a programme pioneered by the Ulster Council and is aimed at childen aged 5-8 and their parents/guardians to introduce them to gaelic games. The children can start to learn the basics of the games while the adults can become involved in coaching the game. This is a very worthwile initiative and takes place in the community centre. Anyone who requires any information regarding 'Gaelic Start' times and dates please contact Eugene.
So to the Banquet which took place on Saturday 27th February in Armagh City Hotel. Again, a large turnout gathered for what was a brilliant nights entertainment. Club members and friends were out in in force to celebrate 10 years of Ladies Football in Cill Iseal, the success of our youth teams and Senior Ladies in 2009 and also to recognise the many fine achievements of Kevin 'Hub' Hughes during his career to date. After the drinks reception and everyone took their seats the chairman welcomed everyone to the event, thanking all for their attendance with special mention going to all the members of the successful teams, Kevin and to our guests; Ciaran McLoughlin Tyrone County Board Chairman, Gerry Doherty Ulster Ladies Board Chairman and Terry McCann who was compere for the evening. Following a very fine meal the presentations began, the U-16 Boys and Girls, Minor Girls and Senior Ladies who were present were called to the stage to receive their medals and appreciation from the crowd for their success last year. The final presentation of the night was then made to Hub to recognise his very successful career so far and for what he has done for our club over the years in terms of putting us on the map so to speak. After some inspiring words from our special guests presentations were made to them to thank them for taking time to join us in our celebrations. Thanks to Ciaran and Gerry for presenting the various awards and to Terry for his part in keeping the evening moving along in a jovial manner. With all formalities now completed the band took to the stage and everyone enjoyed the good music into the small hours.
