Tyrone the Masters again

Former Tyrone star Stephen O'Neill.

Tyrone completed a unique All-Ireland football double when they beat Dublin 2-9 to 1-8 in the Gaelic Masters (Over 40s) final at Drumlish in Co. Longford, less than two months after winning the Sam Maguire Cup.

Michael Anderson and Barry Collins scored the crucial goals either side of half-time for the Red Hands, who included three-time All-Ireland SFC winners Conor Gormley and Stephen O'Neill in their line-up. Anderson's strike propelled the victors into a 1-4 to 0-5 half-time lead.

A Donal Ryan goal gave Dublin a lifeline after they fell further behind after the restart, but Collins' goal got Tyrone motoring again before O'Neill reeled off three quickfire points in the closing stages.

Earlier at the Fr Manning Gaels club grounds, Cavan defeated Roscommon 2-10 to 1-12 in the Plate final.
