Last Saturday (29th) our U8 & U10 girls had a home challenge game against Galbally. A fantastic day of great football, the future of the Hoops is most certainly bright. Keep up the great work girls.

The U6 & U8 boys travelled to Eglish last Saturday morning and with good numbers fielded four teams. All games were competitive against a strong Eglish group. Some great progress was to be seen with the younger lads many of whom were only playing their first or second game for the club and willing to give it their all. A very enjoyable morning was had by all.

The U10 lads also headed to Eglish for their second GO Game. Despite the early start and being short on numbers, the lads played well from the first to the last whistle. Great skills and teamwork were displayed and week on week improvements are very pleasing to see. Next up for the wee Hoops is a home game with Donaghmore this Saturday.

A massive well done to our U14 ladies who defeated Aghaloo last Wednesday (26th) evening. The girls started brilliantly and opened the game with a spectacular goal from full forward Clare Carty. Our midfield trojans Sascha Hughes and Cara McCoubrey scored long range points and worked tirelessly to set up Neve Canning, Zarah Fearon and Aine Gormley with fantastic scores in the first half. A strong Killeeshil defence saw Cara McCrory, Mya Collins and Mairead McCann turn over lots of Aghaloo ball and a few fantastic saves pulled off by Emma Wilson. In the second half, Aghaloo began to crawl back but the girls dug deep. Brianna Holland, Lucy Keown and Aine McCrory supported by Maria O’Neill got the ball into Sophie Campbell, Ellen Holland and Kyla Rose McElvogue who all scored some fine points. Well done to our subs who came on and did a fantastic job! A great display of football.

Our U14 lads play Kildress in The Championship Grade 2 Quarter Final this Saturday at 11 am in Kildress.

The U16 lads had a great win at home last Thursday (27th) in a game played in difficult conditions, against a strong Aghyaran team in the 1st round of the championship on a final scoreline of 3-13 to 3-06. A well taken Daniel Rafferty goal and some superb Conor McCool points helped the boys to a hard earned half time lead 1-09 to 1-05. Aghyaran started the 2nd half well scoring a goal and a point to reduce the deficit to one. The boys fought back immediately with a great move the length of the field inspired by Michael Carty with Eoin Conway finishing spectacularly to the net. A further Eoin Conway goal gave the lads a bit of breathing space at the 2nd water break.
Great defending by Mark and Luke Donnelly along with driving runs from Dillon O'Neill, Liam Traynor and Eoin McGlinchey helped build up a 10 point lead going into injury time. Aghyaran who fought hard all night responded well with a late goal at the death. Well done to all the lads on a gutsy performance laced with some quality football. Next up for the U16 lads is the quarter final of the championship away to Naomh Eoghan this Thursday evening at 6.45pm.

The Minor boys had a comprehensive victory in the quarter final of the championship against Gael Naomh Padraig in Augher on Tuesday (1st) evening on a final scoreline of 9-12 to 3-08. A good all round team effort was the foundation towards building a commanding lead at the half, polished off with some well taken goals from Eoin Neill and Caolan Kilpatrick. The lads kept going strong to the finish with 20 boys seeing action on the night. The victory has ensured a championship semi-final date away to Beragh in a few weeks time.

The senior ladies are playing Aghyaran this Sunday (6th) in Aghyaran in the League semi-final at 12noon.

The mens senior and reserve juggernaut continued with both side keeping their unbeaten records intact after visiting Eskra last Saturday.

First up the reserve side took on a strong looking Eskra outfit and found things tough going in the 1st half. With the sides level at 3 points each at the 15 minute water break, the wheels came off for the Hoops and Eskra took total control of proceedings and went in 9 points up at half time 2-6 to 0-03.

The 2nd half was a very different affair and with Michael O’Neill dominating midfield the Hoops started to come back into the game. Scores from Ryan Doyle, Ronan O’Neill, Niall Hamil, Niall Loughran, Louis Conlon and a John McMullan goal meant Killeeshill were only 3 behind with 15 minutes to play. Martin Hamil, Ciaran Rafferty and Sean Paul Mcguigan were superb in defence and kept Eskra to just 2 points in the entire 2nd half and when O’Neill, Hamil and Doyle brought the game level it looked like the Hoops would pull off a remarkable comeback win but a few chances went astray and the game finished level Eskra 2-8 Killeeshill 1-11. A great 2nd half performance to keep the unbeaten record intact, well done lads.

Next up the senior side took center stage and the game unfolded in remarkably similar fashion to the reserve game.

Daniel Millar, Liam Hughes and Marc Monaghan had Killeeshill on the scoreboard early but Eskra got in for a few well worked goals to move into a comfortable lead as half time approached. Pascal Donaghy, Conzy Donaghy and Jason Doyle responded with a few tidy points but the Hoops still trailed at the short whistle 2-06 to 0-06.

The 2nd half a totally different affair and right from the off the Hoops looked a different team. Once again Pascal Donaghy was the main protagonist and he took control of proceedings with a few beautiful scores from distance. Conall Monaghan, Bernard O’Neill and Gary Reilly were getting through a mountain of work around the middle and this laid the platform for Conzy Donaghy and Marc Monaghan to each get their 2nd scores of the game. Eskra still picked off a few nice points to keep their noses in front but Packie McMullan and Donaghy responded again for the Hoops in this seesaw 2nd half. But ultimately it was that man Donaghy who would have the final say on proceedings when his 60th minute free nudged Killeeshill in front for the 1st time in the contest. Eskra pushes for an equaliser and a late effort looked extremely close but umpire Bernard O’Neill signalled it wide and the Hoops collected the 2points. Indeed O’Neill must have had a great view of the late shot as he was eagerly signalling it wide before the ball even got near the posts but it ultimately proved to be a good call. Another great comeback win for the senior lads and the unbeaten record remains intact. Well done boys. Eskra 2-8 Killeeshill 0-15
