Joe Canning’s injury nightmare continues this year after the Galway star was forced off with a shoulder injury in his club Portumna’s SHC defeat at the weekend.

The former All-Ireland club SHC champions are in relegation trouble having lost all five of their group games.

Their cause has not been helped by Canning’s latest injury. Earlier in the year, he was ruled out of much of Galway’s Leinster campaign with a groin injury.

Now, he looks set for another spell on the sidelines with after he fell heavily on his right shoulder and although he played on until half time, Canning was unable to return for the second half.
