Roscommon seem to be no nearer to appointing a new manager than they were when Kevin McStay first announced that he was stepping down.
In fairness to the Roscommon County Board, they thought they had their man to replace McStay only for preferred candidate Aidan O’Rourke to withdraw from the race at the eleventh hour.
It is now back to the drawing board and going through the whole process again, which according to Roscommon GAA PRO Hugh Lynn has become frustrating.
“It’s very frustrating the way things have panned out,” Lynn told the Westmeath Independent. “The selection committee were given specific aims in terms of recruiting a new manager.
“One of the key aspects was to improve the overall strength and conditioning of the squad. From our perspective, the process will continue.
“The same selection committee will continue to search for the right candidate. They are committed to finding a top class manager and it’s irrelevant if he is from inside our outside the county.
“It’s unfortunate the way things happened but we have to move on now and put all our efforts in getting the right candidate for Roscommon.”
