O'Shea and Manley to lead Ireland teams for Shinty internationals

Former Tipperary senior hurling manager Eamon O’Shea and Cork All-Ireland winning camogie manager Ger Manley will take charge of the Ireland teams for next month’s Shinty-Hurling and Shinty-Camogie internationals against Scotland.

The games will form a double-header at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh on Saturday, 24 October, with the women’s Shinty-Camogie International throwing in at 4pm before the men’s Shinty-Hurling International at 6pm.

O’Shea will manage the Ireland hurlers and will be joined by former Tipperary captain Tommy Dunne as coach.

“The management team and myself are really looking forward to the challenge,” said O’Shea.

“It is foremost an opportunity for our hurlers across the country to showcase their skills in an international environment. The game against Scotland will be exciting, fast and skilful.”

O’Shea’s management team also includes John Considine (Kilbrittain, Cork), Seamus ‘Cheddar’ Plunkett (Portlaoise, Laois), Patrick Hannon (Monaghan Harps, Monaghan) and Conor Hayes (Kiltormer, Galway).

Manley, who guided Cork to the All-Ireland senior camogie title this year, will again take charge of the Ireland Shinty-Camogie team.

The Midleton clubman previously represented Ireland as a player and managed the team to victory over Scotland in Inverness last year.

“I’m thrilled to be involved with the Ireland team once more in 2026,” said Manley.

“Having previously been involved as a player, and having managed the group last year in Inverness, it is a brilliant opportunity to represent your country.”

Manley will be joined by Gemma O’Connor (St Finbarr’s, Cork), Elaine Dowds (Dunloy, Antrim), Jennifer Mehigan (St Finbarr’s, Cork), Kieran McCarthy (Douglas, Cork) and Pat O’Neill (Young Irelands, Kilkenny) in the Ireland management team.

The Ireland panels for both internationals will be confirmed ahead of the double-header in Cork.
