Kiladangan banished the memories of last year's Tipperary SHC final replay defeat to Kilruane McDonaghs when they edged out Thurles Sarsfields 1-21 to 1-20 in a gripping replay at FBD Semple Stadium.

John O'Meara's charges did just enough to claim their second Dan Breen Cup in four seasons and set up a Munster Club SHC semi-final meeting with Clare champions Clonlara at the same venue on November 19. The defeat was an all-too-familiar feeling for Sars' who have now lost four SHC final replays on the trot.

Paddy Creedon’s fourth-minute goal gave Thurles the perfect start, but the winners hit back with points from Declan McGrath, Joe Gallagher, Billy Seymour, Tadhg Gallagher and Dan O'Meara to regain parity after 25 minutes. However, free-taker Aidan McCormack sent Sars into the break with a 1-8 to 0-10 lead.

Points from Willie Connors (two), Sean Hayes and Seymour had Kiladangan 0-14 to 1-9 up before Thurles wrestled back control with scores from Darragh Stakelum and McCormack. It remained on a knife-edge until Sean Hayes fired home a 57th minute goal to put Kiladangan three in front.

McCormack reduced the deficit to the minimum with a brace of late frees, but Sars couldn't get back level as Kiladangan held on.
