MUNSTER COUNCIL GRANTS
As mentioned last week, over 30 Tipperary Clubs benefited from the recent grant announcement from Munster Council and Croke Park. Semple Stadium were also allocated 250,000 euro. The following is the full list of payments to Tipperary clubs and schools who invested over two million euro in development during 2007.

MUNSTER CLUB JUNIOR HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL
Congratulations to Moyle Rovers on becoming the first Tipperary club to win the Munster Club Junior Hurling Championship following their 3-10 to 0-9 victory over Barryroe (Cork) in the final last Sunday.
COUNTY UNDER 21 "A" HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL
Well done to Kilruane MacDonaghs retained their County Under 21 "A" Hurling title on Sunday last at Toomevara following a 1-15 to 3-4 victory over Drom & Inch. Following this success, Kilruane MacDonaghs now sit on top of the roll of honour for this competition with six titles. Nenagh Eire Og, Roscrea and Toomevara all have won five titles since the competition began in 1963.
COUNTY UNDER 21 "B" HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP
Templederry will play Moyle Rovers on Saturday next, December 22nd in the County Under 21 "B" Hurling Championship semi-final at Dundrum with a 2:00pm throw-in. Extra time will be played if necessary. The winners will play Upperchurch-Drombane in the County final scheduled for Sunday, January 6th. This final has been put back from the original fixture of Sunday, December 30th.
FOOTBALL BOARD CONVENTION
The Annual Convention of the Tipperary Football Board took place on Thursday last. Pete Savage stepped down after three years as Chairman and in the election which followed, Noel Morris defeated Waltie Moloney to assume the position of Chairman for 2008. Outgoing PRO Jonathan Cullen was elected unopposed as the new Vice-Chairman. The position of PRO will be filled at the first Football Board meeting of 2008. Thanks to Pete Savage for his service to the Football Board over many years and best wishes to Noel Morris and Jonathan Cullen in their new positions.
TIPPERARY GAA YEARBOOK REVIEWED
The Tipperary GAA Yearbook went on sale on December 8th and retails at ?10. This year's book is one of the largest publications for many years containing 306 pages with over 400 colour photographs and gives a comprehensive review of all the happenings on the various fronts during 2007. Tipperary's All Ireland minor success figures prominently and the exploits of our senior hurlers and footballers are also recalled. There are the usual reviews of the divisional championships at adult and Bord na nÓg level including the centenary celebrations of both the Mid and South Boards. Cumann na mBunscoil, Post Primary schools and Third Level Colleges activities receive appropriate coverage. The Camogie section includes an article on Cashel's historic All Ireland club victory. The activities for the year in Handball, Ladies Football and Scór are all included.
There is a look back at Babs Keating's reign as senior hurling manager and the career of Declan Browne who announced his retirement from inter county football is reviewed. There are many other interesting articles including losing Tipperary All Ireland senior teams, the first meeting of Tipperary and Cork in minor hurling, Tipperary minor hurling (1928-1957), Seventy years ago (an interview with Tipperary's Jimmy Butler Coffey and Kilkenny's Martin Walsh who hurled against each other in the 1937 All Ireland final in Killarney), Relegation - the Curse, My Trip to Tipp (an Ulsterman's fascination with the Munster final at Thurles), Hurling in America has a problem, Tipperary Yearbook Awards. The yearbook includes appreciations to Kieran Carey, Jimmy Kennedy and Seamus Ó Riain who passed to their eternal reward during 2007. Scoreboard 2007 gives the results of both club and inter-county championships. The very popular Tipperary Yearbook Quiz is once again included with twenty questions to test the knowledge of all GAA enthusiasts. The Yearbook is an excellent publication and will give many hours of enjoyment from reading it to our Gaels at home and abroad over the Christmas period.
COUNTY SCOR NA NOG FINAL
The County Final of Scor na nOg was held in Halla na Feile in Cashel on Friday evening, December 7th. The following is a list of the winners in the different categories - Figure Dancing: Newport (Niamh Floyd, Sarah McAuliffe, Louise Ryan, Ciara O'Sullivan, Carol Berkery, Rebecca Ryan, Eilis Ryan and Aoibhinn Floyd); Solo Song: Borris-Ileigh (Claire Kavanagh); Recitation: Toomevara (Katie Larkin); Instrumental Music: Newport (Sarah McAuliffe, Niamh Floyd, Rory Floyd, Larry Brennan and Louise Ryan); Ballad Group: Newport (Rory Floyd, Larry Brennan, Sarah McAuliffe, Niamh Floyd and Aisling Bradley); Question Time: Loughmore-Castleiney (Niamh Ryan, Marty Ryan and Padraic Hennessy); Novelty Act: Winner - Borris-Ileigh (Cliodhna Bourke, Noirin Stapleton, Niamh Lyons, Maria Ryan, Jack Bourke, Steven Shanahan, Tommy Kavanagh and Danny Ryan); Set Dancing: Templederry (Maureen McCutcheon, Edel Ryan, Moira Ryan, Maureen Walsh, Sarah Cunneen, Sarah Murray, Selene Murphy and Elaine Murphy).
PRIMARY SCHOOLS TABLE QUIZ
The County Final of the Primary Schools table quiz was held in Holycross on Sunday evening last, December 16th. 17 teams took part with the winners being Borrisoleigh, second were Ardcroney, third Holycross, fourth Clerihan and in fifth place were Upperchurch. Thanks to Aoife Percy (Mid Youth Officer) and Liam Hogan (North Youth Officer) who set and asked the questions. Other helpers were Incoming County Youth Officer Andy Ryan (Durlas Óg), Outgoing County Youth Officer Nicholas Moroney, Catríona Maher (JK Brackens), Murt Ryan (Loughmore-Castleiney), Andy O Gorman and Micheál Egan (Gortnahoe-Glengoole). Thanks also to Pat Leahy of Holycross Hall for his help, the pupils of Holycross National School who prepared the venue and photographer John Moloughney. Finally, thanks to all the schools who took part at Divisional and County level and the teachers whose hard work makes this quiz so successful every year.
KINANE CUP FINAL
Doon CBS retained their Kinane Cup title (Munster Under 16 ½ "B" Hurling) with a 2-8 to 1-4 victory over Carrigaline Community College on Wednesday last at Mitchelstown in a match refereed by Brian White of Clonmel. The Tipperary players on the Doon CBS panel included wing-back Michael Buckley (Eire Og Annacarty, 0-1), midfielders Cathal McCarthy (Cappawhite) and Dean O'Dwyer (Cappawhite, 0-1), corner-forward Darragh Barry (Cappawhite, 1-0), substitutes Richard O'Doherty and Paul Downey (both Eire Og Annacarty) and sub-goalie Darragh Mooney (Eire Og Annacarty). Micheal Hassett (Moycarkey-Borris) was the Doon CBS manager and the Limerick school qualified for the final thanks to victories over Charleville CBS and Youghal Community College.
POST PRIMARY SCHOOLS
Abbey CBS captured the McGabhann Cup (Tipperary Colleges Senior Football) after a comprehensive victory over Cahir Community School recently. Abbey CBS are also through to the semi-finals of the Munster Colleges Senior "B" Football competition after the defending champions secured a 2-6 to 1-6 replay victory over DLS Macroom.
HUGH COGHLAN / COLM BONNAR
Moyne-Templetuohy native Hugh Coghlan started at midfield for St. Vincents (Dublin) in their 2-8 to 0-7 victory over Tyrrellspass (Westmeath) in the Leinster Club Senior Football Championship Final on Sunday last. Meanwhile, Colm Bonnar lined out at centre-back for Dunhill in their 2-16 to 2-6 victory over Rinn ogCuanach recently in the Waterford County Junior "B" Hurling Championship Final.
BOSTON ALL-STARS
The Boston GAA All-Star Banquet took place on Saturday, December 1st.The Tipperary Junior Hurling team were well rewarded for being the only Boston team to win a North American championship this year as they received a total of eight awards. Two Tipperary natives were among the recipients - Goalkeeper Liam Tuohy (Golden/Kilfeacle) and corner forward Kevin O'Donnell (Boherlahan/Dualla). In the Senior Hurling grade, Kevin Jordan (Thurles) and John McGrath (Knockavilla-Donaskeigh Kickhams) both received awards. The special guest on the night was Kerry legend Mick O'Dwyer. Well done to all concerned.
TIPPERARY GAA MEMBERS DRAW 2007/2008
There was no winner of the Lotto jackpot of ?6,000 in the Tipperary GAA Members Draw on Friday last. Will Ryan of the Clonoulty-Rossmore club won a trip to Gran Canaria. The next draw will take place on Christmas Eve in the Tipperary GAA shop with a Lotto jackpot of ?7,000 on offer.
