Former Sligo forward Stephen Coen made quite the return to club championship action for his native St Mary’s against Tubbercurry yesterday (Saturday).
Today marks 10 months to the day since Coen underwent an operation after suffering the dreaded cruciate curse and, posting on social media, he wrote that “all the blood sweat pain and tears were all worth it” after yesterday’s win.
Coen was named amongst the substitutes from the start as St Mary’s opened their SFC campaign against Tubbercurry at Markievicz Park and he'd come off the bench to net both goals in a 2-13 to 1-11 victory.
It was a dream return for the ace attacker who posted the following on Twitter on Sunday evening:
TweetA goal for each cruciate operation yesterday. All the hard work paid off, great to have you back in red and black 🔴⚫️ https://t.co/ZgWLeu6mO5
