Thoughts on potential Meath all stars/ all stars nominations this year? GreenMan1987 (Meath) - Posts: 116 - 21/08/2025 08:20:36 2632903 Link 0 |
Rafferty will be the only one to get an All Star, we were soundly beaten in a semi, as a result Kerry and Donegal will dominate it. Cabbagepatch1667 (Meath) - Posts: 86 - 21/08/2025 11:22:59 2632937 Link 0 |
Who from Meath do you think will be nominated?

I would love to see Donal Keoghan win an All Star and a Leinster title (not at Louths expense). What a player and servant he has been for Meath and Rathkenny. Sean Rafferty will probably be Meaths best chance of getting an all star. Ollie2 (Louth) - Posts: 1151 - 22/08/2025 09:45:54 2633082 Link 0 |
Guaranteed nominations are rafferty, caulfield, menton, kinsella or costello and Morris. Would love to see keogan get one but dont think he will. Rafferty best chance of winning one and I do think Morris will be in the discussion as he had the performance of the summer against Galway. southmeathgael (Meath) - Posts: 1032 - 24/08/2025 13:06:48 2633328 Link 0 |
All star nominations tomorrow. Judging from recent seasons a semi finalist could expect 4-6 nominations. Who would ye expect/think deserves a nod? I'd say: Rafferty and Kinsella definitely deserve one. Any from Caulfield, Menton, Morris, Costello and Keoghan could sneak one. Sometimes name recognition comes into it with a lower tier team, so Costello and Morris probably have less to do to get one than Kinsella, for instance. Looking back at 2007, the last time we had do many, our nominations included Darren Fay and Graham Geraghty. You would have forgotten how even then at the later stages of their careers with Meath how they were so prominent still on the national level and how truly great they were even in their twilight years with Meath as much of their successes with Meath came in their younger days. Let's hope some of these players can come close to emulating such greats! winatallcost (Meath) - Posts: 817 - 25/09/2025 11:28:48 2637390 Link 0 |
Its still annoys me the 2009 semi finalists got zero nominations. trimmer (Meath) - Posts: 561 - 25/09/2025 12:05:13 2637400 Link 0 |
To be fair, we weren't great in 2009, kind of limped to a semi final when we shocked Mayo in the quarters. We lost to Dublin early in Leinster, and went through the qualifiers beating Waterford, Westmeath, Roscommon and Limerick. And although the scoreline doesn't look bad against Kerry, we were never in that game Probably should have gotten a nomination, but we really overachieved Cabbagepatch1667 (Meath) - Posts: 86 - 26/09/2025 11:22:22 2637522 Link 1 |
Wouldn't really agree with that. Eamonn O'brien and management team did a good job and 2009 was his first year. Meath won an infamous Leinster final in 2010 and actually had three nominations that year in Graham Reilly, Joe Sheridan and Seamus Kenny. 2010 was actually wide open with Down making it all the way to the All-Ireland so Meath were not a million miles off with a relatively young team. Mismanagement at county board level meant thet didn't progress much further after that. winatallcost (Meath) - Posts: 817 - 26/09/2025 12:38:16 2637537 Link 0 |
