It is certainly better to have the group games than a straight knockout although I'm not sure Saturday games for lads between the ages of 17 and 20 will work all that well! I know my own lad works Saturday and Sunday - and needs to! Several of his pals are too!

If memory serves me right - Summerhill narrowly beat Skyrne in the Minor Final of the 2002 born lads. While not really a reliable indicator of who should go well it should give some idea!

The results at the weekend saw wins for Trim over Ratoath and Ashbourne over Senechalstown in one group and Summerhill beat Skyrne narrowly in the other group. the Dunshaughlin Colmcilles game didn't go ahead for some reason or at least there is no result for it!

Colmcilles beat Summerhill in the final of the 2002 in 2019

Division 1 St Colmcilles favourites, Dunshauglin would be up there but with Leinster Intermediate not sure will they be all that invested. And then Summerhill have a chance too. But I'd back Cilles. Divison 2 I hope Dunboyne do it but is a very open division. Kilbride could cause a few shocks unless they've lads focusing on the regional championship instead. Then division 3 and 4 unfortunately I don't know enough about the teams involved at this age. I see Ballinabrackey/Clonard are division 3 they'd have some senior players in Mark Coffey, Barry Thompson, Dean Pluck. But I have no idea what the rest of the team is like

Spot on! I think Summerhill beat Skyrne in a semi final that year?

1. Cilles - R/Up Summerhill
2. Simonstown - R/Up Kilbride
3. Nobber/Kilmainhamwood - R/Up Walterstown
4. Tones - Inny Gaels
5. Jenkinstown - CIlles

Mark Coffey injured
Barry Thompson played his first game since his accident while on holidays ( great to see him back )
Dean Pluck is playing out field.

Great to see other lads back playing after the whole year out, hope to see them again in January.

Fair enough. They'd be a lot weaker for this competition with those players not at full tilt. Thanks for the info

Questions must be asked of the county board
I'm not on here to berate them I just wish someone would explain who or how they came to the decision to hold the under 20 football and the under 21 hurling on same weekend with many clubs playing one day after the next
Then start lecturing about player welfare on other occasions
This is totally unacceptable
This is just ticking a box , they will bang on about how they got competitions ran etc etc
And they will hide behind each other in silence, with nobody accountable to the clubs
Ultimately they can do whatever they want and not have to answer to anyone
We deserve more and expect more
What can be done about this?
Is there a forum within CB where these questions can be put to them?
Or is this just a waste of time as will fall on deaf ears
Anyone have any comments?
