Lads tired , lads carrying injuries, long season, playing both codes, referring decisions, etc etc"
Strange post from someone with three previous posts on this board.

@Awaywin did you go to the game? Anything to comment now?

Hard luck to Ratoath - that was a very close game - hard luck to the Ratoath goalie at a very crucial time. - that and the sideline cut points from Murray gave Trim a lead that was very difficult to claw back for Ratoath.

Charlie Ennis pulled out a couple of top drawer saves so this was, once again, a very close one.

Well done to Trim, deserved winners on the day, Ratoath will rue the soft goal conceded but the real difference were the 2 sideline cuts by James Murray, top class!

Trim backs were fantastic ratoath forwards living off scraps. Gavin McGowan was well marshalled all game and had nowhere near the freedom and space kiltale gave him.
Really thought James Toher was outstanding and James Murray also he looks to be a great talent stepping up.
Decent game given the conditions and well done to referee who managed game well

Congratulations to Trim. Hard luck Ratoath. Great to be reading about a good game, rather than the referee. A good refree really does make the difference. Roll on 2023.

i think dunderry will hold their own next year year in the senior, strong fit big team with some nice hurlers. they should have no fear of the likes of Dunboyne, Longwood etc. the same could have been said for rathmoylan they probably as good as the lower teams in the senior also. it was a good enough game with Rathmoylan but the second half was ruined by too many whistles

Yeah, you never like to see those errors but it wasn't what lost us the game. As stated, Trim effectively shackled a lot of our best players whole theirs shone. Murray's sideline cuts were exquisite.
Tough ask for Trim in Leinster as they'll play either Danesfort or Thomastown of Kilkenny in Leinster IHC. Think the only time a Meath team have beaten a Kilkenny team was when Kilmessan won the Leinster in 2008.

I think dunderry could do well in leinster, not a bad draw could get to a final if luck goes their way

Probably correct there.

That Trim team has probably not peaked yet - though Toher and Douglas are in the latter stages of their careers. There are players coming through that can improve that team. If they win the SHC in the coming years they may be better setup for a crack at Leinster.

Dont think they are going top have a crack at Leinster, they scored 1-04 from play against a poor Rathmolyon team and 12 from frees where the ref was whistle happy. refs in Leinster champ are not whistle happy.

Kilkenny Intermediate Hurling Final, Danesfort versus Thomastown winners have home advantage against Trim.

They scraped through a poor Kells side & scored 1-4 from play aginst Rathmolyon. I wont hold my breath. The Yoyo team in meath hurling circles.

There was too many frees in the final second half especially, game was stopped from flowing so scores from play were going to come up short a bit
I still think they good enough to win their first two games surely, Longford champs first then winners of wicklow v Britain, semi final will probably be tough alright, you never know though, meath clubs haven't done bad in the junior at times in the last few years, na Fianna and rathoath got to finals

Really difficult start for Trim in the Leinster and unfortunately I can't see them getting past first round. Apart from the Naas win last year, KK teams have dominated not just Leinster but also the All Ireland. It is telling that the intermediate winners in KK usually go into senior and are competing in the knock outs within a year or two. The same cannot be even said for the senior B winners in Meath never mind intermediate.

Think Trim have the opportunity in the next few years to dominate the Meath SHC and with a bit of luck, pick up a leinster for the county and maybe even an all ireland. 2 titles in 3 years and their underage success is frightening. The other 5 senior A teams will be playing for second place for awhile.

christ almighty how wrong i was about dunderry, i thought they had a great chance of making a semi at least. it dosent say alot for meath club hurling sadly, although trim were beaten by the louth champs in the senior 21 years ago. were dunderry not trying or what

Dunderry would be a Yo-yo team in Meath hurling circles. The standard in Intermediate is shocking. They're a great team to fight though.
