St Colmcilles top of the pile in Naas

It was a wonderful day for St Colmcilles U12's on Sunday past as they emerged victorious at the much renowned annual Naas U12 Tournament.   Featuring some of Leinsters top sides including Kilmacud Crokes, Portlaoise, Naas, Ballinteer St Johns, Athlone and also teams of the quality of Austin Stacks, Ratoath, St Pats of Wicklow and Round Towers from Kildare, the tournament had a real quality line up.

On the day the East Meath boys beat in the group stages Austin Stacks, Athlone, Ballinteer St Johns and Ratoath to reach the final where they took on Dublin's best U12 side Kilmacud Crokes who in turn overcame Portlaoise to reach the final.

In  a thrilling final in front of a large crowd St Colmcilles led 1-3 to 0-3 at the break.  In the 2nd half Kilmacud Crokes fought back to lead by 1 point only for the St Colmcilles boys to dig in and reply with another 1-1 to see them win out on a final score of St Colmcilles 2-3  Kilmacud Crokes 1-3. 

In what was a wonderful tournament St Colmcilles U12's played some terrific high tempo football throughout and were deserving winners on the day.   In what was a quality line up, the boys from St Colmcilles U12's set a high standard, one that has seen them competing with the very best U12 sides in Leinster and this been their incredible 7th tournament win in 2 years. 

The St Colmcilles U12's have a busy few weeks ahead with up next, a Round 9 match V Dunboyne in the Meath League this Wednesday,  before travelling to the Cooley Kickhams U12 Tournament on Saturday and then  playing in the Meath U12 League Final on Wednesday 17th."
