Relegation replay fixed for December

November 26, 2009

Rathkenny's Thomas Rowan
Meath county board have fixed Rathkenny and Walterstown to play in a SFC relegation playoff on the 6 December. The game is classified as a replay, meaning that the county board have accepted Walterstown's appeal against the period of extra time that was played during the drawn game. Rathkenny won that original game in extra time but Walterstown argued that since they had not agreed to play extra time, then under GAA rules extra time was unauthorised and the result after 60-minutes must stand. Leinster Council agreed with the Walterstown appeal and the county board have decided that they will go ahead with relegation from the senior ranks this year with the replayed playoff fixed for Sunday week. The losers will face Duleek-Bellewstown in the relegation playoff final.
