After beating Kilmessan in the league final in July, Loughcrew Gaels/Gaeil Colmcille completed a memorable double with this eight-point win over Trim in the U14 Division 1 Cup final at Kildalkey. PHOTOS

Paudie Reilly put the town side on the scoreboard first before the impressive Danny Keane raised the first of his two green flags.

Trim battled back and hit four unanswered points from Leon Caldwell, Evan McGuinness, Reilly and half-back Callum Conneely.

The North Meath combination weathered that scoring spree and responded with goals from Jack Farrell and Keane to take a 3-2 to 0-7 lead into the half-time break.

McGuinness narrowed that lead with two early second-half points before Loughcrew Gaels/Gaeil Colmcille took over.

A brace from Keane was followed by another from Farrell. Reilly added to his tally for Trim, but the winners finished with points from Fionn Owens (2) and Killian Connell (2) to run out deserving winners.

After the game, Thelma Byrne presented the U14 Division 1 Hurling Championship Cup to joint-captains Danny Keane and Peter Barrett.
