In a low-scoring first half, the teams went into the half-time break level at 0-4 each.

Tom Bannon opened the winners' account, but by the end of the first quarter Dunboyne were 0-4 to 0-2 in front thanks to pointed frees from Darragh Harkin, along with a brilliant two-pointer off the ground from Sam Eglington.

The Hill finished the half with a brace from full-forward Andrew Bulloch.

Harkin pushed Dunboyne in front with an early second-half brace, but from there on Summerhill dominated.

Midfielders Conor Rispin and Conall O'Reilly took over and provided a perfect platform for their attack.

David Bulloch scored a brilliant individual goal before O'Reilly followed up with a single and an excellent two-pointer. Rispin opened his account before O'Reilly added another point as Summerhill secured a memorable win.

After the game, Fintan Porter, sponsor Pat O'Reilly and members of the O'Brien family presented the Paddy O'Brien Cup to Summerhill captain Liam Fagan.
