O’Mahony’s produced an impressive second-half performance to overcome Clann na nGael by 11 points in the final group game of the Senior B Camogie Championship, securing their place in the semi-finals.

The visitors started brightly, with O’Mahony’s opening the scoring through a Cara Ratty 45 after just two minutes. Clann na nGael quickly responded from a 45 before Lauren Woods restored the O’Mahony’s lead with a well-taken point from play.

Clann na nGael then enjoyed a strong spell, hitting four unanswered scores to move 0-5 to 0-2 ahead midway through the opening half. Woods stemmed the flow with her second point before Isabel O’Connor and Mia McNally added scores to bring O’Mahony’s back level at 0-5 apiece.

The sides traded scores again, but Clann na nGael held a narrow advantage as the half approached its conclusion. However, O’Mahony’s finished the opening period in style. With just over a minute remaining, O’Connor found the net from play to put O’Mahony’s 1-5 to 0-7 ahead, before McNally added another point moments later. Clann na nGael reduced the deficit to a single point early in the second half, but O’Mahony’s soon took control. Ratty and Woods both found the target to extend the lead before Izzy Kinsella struck for O’Mahony’s second goal in the 36th minute.

Now firmly in the ascendancy, O’Mahony’s continued to apply pressure. Ratty and Woods added further points, while Clann na nGael responded with a free to leave the score 2-10 to 0-10 with 15 minutes remaining.

Ratty converted a free shortly afterwards and, although Clann na nGael added two more points, O’Mahony’s finished the game strongly.

Anna Gardiner registered a point before Kinsella, O’Connor and Ratty all added late scores. O’Connor then completed the scoring with her fourth score of the afternoon.
