JFC rel play-off: Brennan to the rescue as Dunderry retain status

Prior Monday evening commitments meant that when we reached Seneschalstown the score board had it 0 to 6. The story got worse then when the Donore men added a two pointer. 

A strong run out of defence however from Loughran and a decent pass to Luke Martyn saw the latter hit Dunderrys opener with about five minutes left in the opening half. 

The Mary's respond from play the Dunderry faithful were losing faith on the packed sidelines.

A glimer of hope however when Barron fielded superbly, bursted forward, chipped over the defence to the waiting Ciarán Sheridan who netted neatly and had the score board at 1-1 to 0-9 for the interval. 

A Conor Sheridan two point effort was pushed out for a 45 which Brenno slotted over. This was followed up with a nice point from Rian Liggan. 

Hopes of a revival however were temporarily quenched when St Mary's raise a green flag.

Ciarán Sheridan tapped over next followed by a tap over the other end. A fine point from Lukey off the left foot had the Dunderry crowd a bit more animated. 

Seán Brennan was brought up from his goalmouth to tap over a fourteen yard free. A similar free some minutes later saw Dermot Kelly take the ball in hand to speed things up and duly converted.

A surging run down the middle saw the Donore men hold their advantage with a point from play.

Kelly was pulled down again on the top right and Brenno was dispatched once more. 

St Mary's were now only three up and playing a dangerous game of keep ball over and back for long passages of play.

A sturdy and determined turnover from Cormac Liggan got the ball going forward and all the Marys could do was foul. Brenno strolled up and nailed a smashing two pointer. Only one the difference now and time disappearing fast.

A press on the resulting kick out forced the ball to the center of the field where Barron was waiting in the clouds for it. He tried once, twice and was fouled on his third attempt to get a two pointer away.

Who else only County number 1 Brenno to steal the win at the death.

St Marys will likely bang on a few more scores if they find themselves in that position again and not try running down the clock.
