Moynalvey Ladies had a comprehensive win over St. Peters Dunboyne ladies second team in round three of group B of the Kepak Junior ‘A’ football championship at Dunboyne on Saturday evening 5th September.

Dunboyne venues were good to Moynalvey over the weekend with the men picking up a win at Kepak Park on Friday night, while the ladies secured this convincing win on Saturday evening at the Rooske pitch.

With two wins from two and progression to the semi-finals already secured prior to this game, it was a case of getting the job done and securing another win here for Moynalvey.

It was one way traffic throughout with Moynalvey leading 0-7 to 0-1 at half time and adding another 1-8 in the second half, with Dunboyne adding just one further second half point to leave the full time score 1-15 to 0-2.

Moynalvey had six points on the score board through Rosin Murphy, two Aoife O’Shea frees and a hat trick of points from Jennifer McLoughlin before St. Peters eventually got off the mark with their sole first half point in the 29th minute, 0-6- to 0-1.

Jennifer McLoughlin added a fourth to her tally after gaining possession from a Stephanie Walsh ’45 and slotting over to round off the first half scoring, leaving the score board read 0-7 to 0-1 in favour of the girls in maroon when referee Sean Clarke blew for half time.

Things got worse for the St. Peters girls three minutes after the break when a swift handpassing move up the field from Moynalvey found full forward Clodagh Murphy who made no mistake blasting to the St. Peters net for the game’s only goal, now 1-7 to 0-1.

Points from Jennifer McLoughlin who used the quick tap and go after she was fouled to send over her fifth point of the evening, two Aoife O’Shea points one from play and a second from a free after Rachel Garrett was fouled on the end line, 1-10 to 0-1 with forty nine minutes played.

Dunboyne pointed their sole secondary point in the 50th minute, with Moynalvey going on to add another five points before the full time whistle. Those points coming from Cheyenne O’Brien, an Aoife O’Shea free who converted after dusting herself off after being fouled, Louise Donoghue, another O’Shea point and Jennifer McLoughlin had the final say blazing over the cross bar when through on goal in the 61st minute.

This convincing round three win sees Moynalvey top group B with three wins from three to progress to the semi-finals as group B winners.

Best for Moynalvey here were Jennifer McLoughlin, Aoife O’Shea, Louise Donoghue, Clodagh Murphy, Rachel Garrett and Aoife Weston.
