Navan O’Mahony’s got the win in an exciting game of football in the first round of the JACFC Div 3 in Paddy O’Brien Park on Monday evening, recovering from a large deficit in the first half.

The visitors got off to the better start and had seven points on the board on the fifteen minute mark, including a two-pointer. At this stage, O’Mahony’s had split the posts on three occasions. 

Things weren’t looking well for O’Mahony’s approaching half time, with Ballinlough having extended the lead to seven, leading by twelve points to five. The scorers for the Brews Hill men in the half were Ciaran McGuinness, Kilian Clarke-Doggett, Cillian Roe, Max Farrelly and Ben Forde.

The third quarter saw O’Mahony’s get back into the match, helped along by a goal from substitute Sean Smyth who also added a point. McGuinness was solid on the frees, including a two-pointer, throughout while Ciaran Vaughan also added his name to the score-sheet.

With four points to chase in the final quarter, O’Mahony’s dug deep and came out on top, showing great fight and determination right to the end. Forde, Roe and Farrelly all added to their earlier tallies.
