The new gym development at the Meath Centre of Excellence in Dunganny is on course for completion in July, delegates at Monday night's County Committee meeting were told.
Conor O'Donoghue provided an update on the progress of the state-of-the-art facility, outlining that the project is approaching its final stages with a July completion date being targeted.
The gym will represent another significant addition to the county's training infrastructure, providing enhanced facilities for inter-county teams and supporting the long-term development of players across Meath. Delegates also heard that the recently introduced Tax Exemption Scheme is expected to prove beneficial in assisting future fundraising efforts linked to the project.
The gym update formed part of a wider discussion on ongoing developments and investment at Dunganny.
County Committee members approved the formation of a new Games Work Group to oversee future planning and development at the Centre of Excellence. Nick Fitzgerald will serve as chairperson, with Peter Meehan and Jim Lane also joining the group. The proposal was put forward by Jason Plunkett and seconded by Jim Smith.
Infrastructure improvements at the facility are also set to continue, with plans being explored for the installation of a full spectator fence around Pitch 6.
Significant investment has also been required to maintain the facility, with approximately €45,000 spent on pitch repairs. Delegates heard that the rising costs associated with operating Dunganny have led to increased rental charges, with soaring diesel prices and the escalating cost of pitch lighting placing additional pressure on running expenses.
There was also confirmation regarding the naming rights agreement for the Centre of Excellence, with the facility to operate under the title Devenish Park/Páirc Daimhinis as part of a six-year arrangement.
