St. Joseph's Kilmessan retained a firm grip on the Meath Cumann na mBunscol Division 1 Hurling title with this victory over Kildalkey. The winners claimed their first crown with victory over the same opposition last year. PHOTOS

Kilmessan dominated the opening half and led 1-8 to 0-2 at the break. An early brace of points from Eoin Horan, along with a David Keena goal, put the team in white and blue firmly in control. Kildalkey's response came through two points from Daíthí Birmingham. Tommy Clynch (2), Keena, Horan (2) and Bobby Keogh completed the Kilmessan first-half scoring.

Second-half goals from Shay Quinlan and Horan sealed a comfortable victory for the holders as they secured back-to-back Division 1 titles.

After the game, Brian Mullins presented the Division 1 Hurling Cup to Kilmessan joint captains Tommy Clynch and David Keena.
