Moynalvey's Mark O'Sullivan with Daithi McGowan Ratoath

The division’s top scoring side maintained their unbeaten run with a six point win over bottom side Moynalvey in this Husqvarna Centre PR Coyne Div. 1 league played in Ratoath on Thursday evening 4th June.

Ratoath 0-13
Moynalvey 1-4

Despite the heavy showers throughout the day, the Ratoath pitch was in immaculate condition for this round 8 tie of the Husqvarna Centre PR Coyne Division 1 league played at Sean Eiffe Park on Thursday evening.

Hardly a classic by any means in scoring terms, little would anyone think it was top side against bottom side of the division as the sides were inseparable as they left the pitch when referee Derek Ryan blew his half time whistle, 0-6 to 1-3.

It was Ratoath who got off to a flying start with four points on the score board within the opening seven minutes, Daithi McGowan (2), Brian Daly and Cian Rogers. Moynalvey eventually opened their account in the 13th minute with the game’s only goal coming from Hugh O’Sullivan, 0-4 to 1-0.

The sides were level for the first time three minutes later when Hugh O’Sullivan broke the line to set up Brian O’Reilly to point, draw match 0-4 to 1-1 with sixteen minutes played.

Ratoath took the lead again with another point, but a two point free from Adam Murphy put the men in maroon in front for the only time throughout, 1-3 to 0-5, with twenty minutes gone.

Former county player Bryan McMahon fisted over the final score of the half in the 26th minute meaning the half time score read 0-6 to 1-3.

Normal service resumed for Kevin Daly’s side as they outscored Moynalvey seven points to one in the second half. Five points without reply had the home side 0-11 to 1-3 to the good twenty minutes into the second half. Those scores coming from Eamonn Wallace (2), Glen O’Reilly, Paddy White and Cian Rogers.

Moynalvey’s sole second half score came with four minutes remaining from substitute Paul Corcoran, while Ratoath tagged on a further brace from Cian Rogers and Bryan McMahon to leave the full time score 0-13 to 1-4.

While not setting the score board alight themselves, positives for Moynalvey to take are their work rate in limiting the division’s top scoring side to thirteen points and recording a clean sheet with good performances from Padraic Harnan, Charlie McCormack, Brian O’Reilly, Hugh O’Sullivan and David Regan.

Next up for Moynalvey is a round nine encounter against Donaghmore/Ashbourne at home on Tuesday 16th June.
