Moynalty 4-12 St Paul’s 0:09
Moynalty looked to break their two game losing streak last night, and they did so in entertaining fashion.
The lads raced into a 6 point lead, including scores by Anto Nevin, Matthew McKenna and brace by Peter Olwill. Jake Smyth and Dylan Gargan combined with a nice hand passing move which left Dylan through on goal and he drove the ball into the top left corner to put Moynalty in a great position. Eanna Bennett grabbed a goal also, his strike from a 45 dropping in and over the goalkeeper. Credit to the Moynalty defence and Tommy Owen’s in goal, who kept the Paul’s to a singular score in the first half.
Moynalty 2-09 St Paul’s 0-01
Moynalty kept the scoreboard ticking, and St Paul’s got into a better flow in the second half.
St Paul’s started the brighter, grabbing three consecutive well worked points. Moynalty returned scores with Eanna Bennett converting three frees.
Jake Smyth was brought down inside the penalty area and was awarded a penalty, he then had a hard task of fending off an eager duo of Eanna Bennett and Cillian Gaynor who both fancied their chancing in scoring it, and converted the penalty himself.
Harley Smith also added a goal towards the end of the game, he worked it well, beating two St Paul’s defenders and driving it to the roof of the net from a tight angle.
The win leaves the lads in 5th place in the league, with another game on Thursday night at home to Kilmainhamwood.
