
Moynalvey’s Thursday night trip to Stamullen proved an unsuccessful one as they lost out to St. Patricks by six points in this PMC Physiotherapy Div. 9 League round four game.

St. Patricks third team picked up their third win from four outings to leapfrog Moynalvey’s second team into second place of the Div. 9 league table.
A St. Patricks side littered with experienced and physically stronger players made better use of their possession throughout feeding good ball into their efficient forward line.
It was the visitors who opened the scoring through Barry Walsh after three minutes, the only time Moynalvey would lead throughout.
Ronan Maguire opened St. Patrick’s account in the 4th minute and four minutes later the same player added another to put the home side in front for the first time, 0-2 to 0-1.
The Walsh brothers Barry and Vinny combined with the latter pointing off the left hand upright to draw the sides level, but then came a defining couple of minutes when St. Patricks netted two goals within three minutes to extend their advantage to six points, 2-2 to 0-2, with fourteen minutes played.
Moynalvey almost raised a green flag of their own thirty seconds later when a rasping effort at goal from Paul Corcoran crashed back off the crossbar, likewise a Dylan McCreedy effort at goal for St. Patricks was blocked on the Moynalvey goal line in the 18th minute.
St. Patricks points from Niall Mooney and Dylan Turner either side of a two pointed free from Vinny Walsh with the outside of the boot left it 2-4 to 0-4 with twenty two minutes played.
Moynalvey eventually raised a green flag when a well worked move saw Sean Duggan through on goal, his shot saved initially by St. Patricks ‘keeper Darragh Sullivan, but for the rebound falling into the path of Evan Drum for a simple tap in, leaving a goal between the sides, 2-4 to 1-4 with 28 minutes gone.
Dylan Turner sent over St. Patricks final point of the half with Moynalvey responding with a Luke Duffy point which started with an excellent Matt Brennan turnover in defence to leave the score 2-5 to 1-5 when referee Robert Lynch blew his half time whistle.
St. Pat’s full forward Barry Campbell accounted for the second half’s opening two scores, before Moynalvey eventually got their second half up and running with a brace of Vinny Walsh points in response, the half time goal difference remaining between the sides 12 minutes into the second half.
The final quarter saw the home side outscore Moynalvey four points to one with points from Niall Mooney (2), Barry Campbell and Ronan Maguire, with Moynalvey’s point coming from substitute Aaron McCabe to see St. Patricks run out deserved six point winners, 2-11 to 1-8.
