St. Michaels 3-09, Donaghmore Ashbourne 3-08
Three well taken Claire Reilly goals proved pivotal as St. Michaels claimed the spoils in an entertaining division 2 clash in Carlanstown on Friday evening last.
St. Michaels were the dominant team for large tracts of the opening half and led by four at the break 3-6 to 2-5. Reilly's goals were evenly spaced coming in the opening minute, at the end of the first quarter and on the stroke of half time. Donaghmore Ashbourne found the back of the St. Michaels net in the sixth and ninth minutes.
The visitors were first on the board in the second half with a converted free however they were pegged back with a Sally Keogan point from play, Alicia Curtis stretched the home sides lead to four points but back came Donaghmore with 1-1 to level the contest on 47 minutes and although both sides had several chances to add scores in a tense and exciting final quarter it was a converted free from Lauren Reilly on the stroke of full time that sealed the deal for the home side.
