Navan O’Mahony’s 1-11
Gaeil Colmcille 3-09
A late comeback from Gaeil Colmcille was enough for them to claim the points on offer in the Div 5 FL on Sunday morning, scoring the last 2-02 of the game to win by four points.
By the ten minute mark, it was 1-01 to 0-03 in favour of the visitors, with Ronan Clarke and Max Farrelly scoring for O’Mahony’s. Gaeil Colmcille stretched the lead but points from Clarke, Jack Bellamy and a slam-dunk effort from Jamie O’Reilly left the sides level approaching half time.
The visitors kicked the last two points to give them the edge at half time. Although Gaeil Colmcille extended their lead to three early in the second half, a Bellamy free and Clarke and Eoin Joyce points from play drew the sides level. A Christy Dillon effort dropped short before Jack McConnell won possession and sent it to the net to put O’Mahony’s three ahead.
Both sides were reduced to fourteen men with McConnell shown the line for O’Mahony’s. With eight minutes remaining, a Clarke point left four in it, which remained the case for five minutes. From the fifty-seventh minute, Gaeil Colmcille hit the final 2-02 of the match, with a goal with the last kick of the game.
