May 02, 2026

Shane Glynn Wolfe Tones

Bhulf Ton 2-15 St Colmcilles 0-13 in Piltown

Cúig bua as a chéile sa sraith do Bhulf Tón taréis an bua seo as baile. Dhá chúil ó Ben Reilly agus Kyle Moran sa tríú cheathrú a rinne an difríocht.

The final score belies the competitiveness of the exchanges on a perfect night for football. On the tight Piltown pitch both teams had to be sharp to maintain possession and Tones went in at half time four points ahead while the hosts had spoiled some good approach play with poor finishing. Half time score Bhulf Ton 0 08 ‘Cilles 0 04.

The hosts had a goal chance immediately on the resumption which was saved at the expense of an unconverted  ’45. However two goals before the end of the third quarter set Tones up for victory. The first came after Sarán O Fionnagáin hit a sideline deep into enemy territory, Fiachra Ward fielded and off loaded to Ben Reilly who rifled to the net. O Fionnagain had a hand in the second goal, freeing up Kyle Moran who played a one/two with Ross Gallagher before palming the ball to the net. This score put Tones 2-13 to 0-10 clear and although ‘Cilles threatened to spark a revival their next four attempts were wide which greatly hampered their cause. The Tones defense ably led by full back Shane Glynn was superb had to be on their toes to track the enterprising ‘Cilles attack and the pressure exerted contributed to 12 misses from the hosts.

Meath panellists Oisin Martin and Saran O Fionnagain contributed handsomely in a forward line that combined well under pressure in tight spaces.
