St. Michaels 3-15, Donaghmore Ashbourne 1-12
A five star display from attacker Shane McDonnell was the scaffold used by St. Michaels to construct a gritty division 3 away win.
McDonnell was in fine fettle throughout and bagged 1-3 in the opening half alone and he was ably assisted by corner back Cathal Walsh who broke through the home defence for a well struck second goal at the end of the first quarter.
The opening half was a fluid and closely contested affair which kept the very small attendance interested throughout as the home side led by a single point at the short whistle 1-09 to 2-05. A point apiece from Paddy Tobin and Paddy Fitzsimons completed the first half scoring for the visitors.
The second half was all St. Michaels and it was barely a minute old when Fitzsimons bagged his sides third major after been put through by McDonnell and McDonnell himself added nine of his sides next ten second half minors ( 1 x 2p ) with substitute Lee Morris chipping over the last score of the evening on 57 minutes for his sides well deserved victory.
