Camogie: Great weekend for Meath Under 16's

April 15, 2026

Caoimhe Dixon receives the Leinster U16C Shield

Meath U16's enjoyed another superb weekend of camogie, travelling to Kilkenny to take on Wicklow in the Leinster U16C Shield Final.

In what proved to be a highly competitive contest played in very challenging conditions, the girls delivered an outstanding performance against a strong Wicklow side.

The first half was tightly fought, with both teams trading scores and battling for control as Meath played into a very strong wind. Through relentless work‑rate and excellent defensive discipline, the girls restricted Wicklow and went in at the break trailing by just two points.

Meath really found their rhythm after the restart, producing an impressive second‑half display built on teamwork, intensity, and sharp score‑taking. This surge saw the girls pull clear and secure a well‑deserved victory:

It was a superb all‑round team performance, one that will give the girls huge confidence as they continue their development together. The team was captained by Caoimhe Dixon, with Ruth Potterton named Player of the Match. However, this was truly a collective effort, with all 22 players making a significant contribution on the day.

The girls’ next outing will be on 26 April, when they contest the National Programme Cup Final v Kildare.
