Nobber 6-16 Kilmainham 0-7
Kilmainham 2nds took on Nobber 2nds on Sun 12th April in Kilmainham. This was a rearranged match due to the Nobbers pitch being deemed unplayable last week. Nobber had only 13 player's so the match commenced with 13 aside.
Nobber started off very well and hit some early scores. Kilmainham had plenty of possession but were struggling to get any scores of their own. Troy Flanagan did hit a sweet score off his left boot for his first point for the club. Nobber were on top around midfield and their strong sprinkle of first team players were beginning to put their stamp on this match. They hit 3 goals before half time, and it could have been more only for some poor finishing and for young Trevor Lynch in the Kilmainham goals. The youngster pulling off a few good saves.
Shane Butler had to leave the field at half time after an upset stomach. Apparently there was some dodgy 7 up on sale at a recent club wedding. The second half started off with Nobber again dominant around the middle. Kilmainham did play much better in the second half and showed more fight and work rate, something that was missing in the first half. Unfortunately just kike the first half we didn't convert our chances. The Nobber goalie pulled off a few very good saves. One in particular from Kilmainham forward Alan Thompson. Scott Lynch, Mark Newman and Dean Peppard all had good goal chances saved. Nobber were more clinical at the other end. They hit another 3 goals and kicked some excellent points to run out convincing winners on the day. It was great to see Sean Smith make his adult team debut for the club, Paul Daly also made a substitute appearance after a 6-year absence.
