Moynalty 3-14 Drumbaragh 4-11
Moynalty and Drumbaragh shared the spoils in a thrilling encounter at Moynalty on Tuesday evening.
Both sides had chances to claim victory, but in the end, a draw was a fair reflection of a game packed with drama. Drumbaragh looked set to take the win deep into injury time, but Moynalty battled back to equalise, leaving both teams to walk away with a single hard-earned point.
Drumbaragh drew first blood through a well-taken two-pointer from Hughie Corcoran. Moynalty responded with several attacks but were wasteful in front of goal during the early stages. The Drums added another point in the eighth minute to extend their lead before Bryan McCormack opened Moynalty’s account with a point. Eoin Gilsenan and Sean McMahon added further scores, keeping Moynalty in touch, while Drumbaragh replied with two more points to maintain a narrow advantage.
The intensity rose as the first half progressed. Johnny Lynch pulled off a fantastic save in the Moynalty goal, setting the Reds on the attack, only for the referee to blow for picking the ball off the ground, a decision that Moynalty players and supporters felt was harsh. Drumbaragh played quickly from the resulting turnover and slotted the ball into the net to extend their lead. Moynalty were then reduced to 14 players when Dylan Farrelly, who had been keeping a close check on the dangerous Corcoran, received a black card, despite the numerical disadvantage, Paddy Byrne added another point to keep the Reds in contention. Confusion reigned moments later as Bryan McCormack rifled the ball to the top of the Drumbaragh net, but neither referee nor umpire signalled a goal. Seconds later, the on fire McCormack struck again, but the green flag remained down, adding to the frustration and confusion among home supporters.
In the closing stages of the half, Drumbaragh’s Harry O Higgins, who had been in outstanding form, drove through the middle and set up another Drumbaragh goal, leaving the half-time score

After the half-time confusion was resolved and the referee confirmed the scoreline, Moynalty came out firing. Early points from Bryan McCormack and Paul Lynch put the Reds into the lead and set the tone for a frantic second half. Drumbaragh soon hit a purple patch, with Shea McManus and Harry O Higgins increasingly influential, carving open the Moynalty defence. They added two points from play before taking total control with a well-worked goal from the left. Yet Moynalty refused to buckle. Sean McMahon added his second point of the evening, and Johnny Lynch struck a fantastic two-pointer to close the gap.
The in-form Bryan McCormack then equalised, only for Drumbaragh to exploit a lapse in Moynalty’s defence to score their fourth goal. Moynalty responded instantly, with Seanie Curran capitalising on a defensive error to narrow the deficit once more. Paddy Byrne added a superb two-pointer, keeping the Reds in the hunt and then Drumbaragh replied with points in quick succession, including one deep into injury time, before Moynalty launched a final attacking move. Paddy Byrne finished the move brilliantly to level the game, by now, it was end-to-end chaos, with both teams having chances to snatch victory. In the end, referee Pat Clarke blew for full-time
