April 06, 2026

Fiachra Ward - Wolfe Tones

Bhulf Tón 3-09 Dunshaughlin 0-03 in Dunshaughlin

Buíochas le Stoirm Dave bhí an aimsir go hainnis a d’fhag sé sin na cioniollacha sleamhain. Bhí sé deacair an liathroid a choiméad faoi smacht agus bhí obair na gcapall ag teastail ó na himreoiri chun seilbh a bhuachaint agus a choiméad. Bhi na cuairteoirí 1-08 in aghaidh 0 00 chun tosaigh ag leatham agus bheadh cosaint den scoth ag teastail sa dara leath i gcoinne na gaoithe. Rinneadar sin.

Storm Dave peaked five minutes into this game with high winds and lashing rain making for treacherous conditions which minimised any chance of fluent play with turnovers, fumbles and dropped balls the order of the day in a game that at times resembled hand to hand combat on a skating rink. Tones playing with the wind led 1 08 to 0 00 at half time and such was the strength of the wind that it was expected to be a close finish. However. the visitors exerted greater control after the interval keeping the home side scoreless until the dying minutes.

Tones scores came late in the game, a free from Thomas O Reilly for a three man up infraction, was followed by a goal, soccer style from Kyle Moran following hard won possession from Stephen Sheppard and Rian Fox. A goal from Fiachra Ward rounded off the Tones scores when he fielded a Padraic Diamond point effort which was held up in the wind. The game marked the first team debut of minor Ciaran Boland and he acquitted him self well. Maith thú Ciaran.
