
Kildalkey 1-15 Blackhall Gaels 2-13
Kildalkey kicked off their year in the Division 2HL against Blackhall Gaels and just came up short by 1 point in wet and bitterly cold conditions in Batterstown.
Kildalkey started well and led at halftime by 4 points 1-8 to 0-7, the goal coming from Conor Fitzgerald while Ben Rickard Mattie Cully Gary Kelly and Fitzgerald raised white flags in a half where scores were hard to come by .
They led at the 3/4 stage by 1-13 to 1-9 with further scores from Kelly Rickard and Cully (2 frees a brilliant sideline cut )and Arron Potterton and looked to be in a winning position but a late surge from the home side yielded the vital scores to win the game by 1-15 to 2-13 .
Kildalkey started a number of youngsters and the acquitted themselves well and didn’t look out of place playing against the older lads and just came up short by the minimum.
