FL Div 3: Tough morning for Donaghmore Ashbourne

March 23, 2026

Donaghmore Ashbourne's Andrew Tormey

Dunderry 3-08 Donaghmore Ashbourne 2-02

Donaghmore Ashbourne’s depleted second team travelled to Cortown to play Dunderry in an early morning throw in on Sunday.

The home side registered a point and goal with their first two attacks and dominated the early proceeding to run into a 2-04 to 0-00 lead by the end of the first quarter. Donaghmore Ashbourne did come alive and goals from Colin Cox and Daniel Doherty on 19 and 21 minutes respectfully had the deficit back to 4 points. The sides trading points late in the half with the Moors score coming from Andrew Tormey.

Half Time: Dunderry 2-05 Donaghmore Ashbourne 2-01

Dunderry extended their lead to 7 points in the opening minute of the second period when they found the back of the net for the third time. Daniel Doherty did reply with a point on 34 minutes, and this was their last score of the half.

Donaghmore Ashbourne despite the possession and hard work did have a number of chances to reduce the deficit but a combination of good defending by the home side and poor shot selection and execution they never closed the gap om the scoreboard. The home side picked off a couple of late points at the other end and ran out 3-08 to 2-02 winners.

A strange game overall but with a couple of lads coming back in a couple of weeks Donaghmore Ashbourne should get back to winning ways again.
