Gaeil Colmcille 2nds got their second win in as many games when the defeated St. Mary's on Sunday morning in Grangegodden. Goals from Ajay Tormey and Fionn Smith either side of the half time whistle helped the Kells men to the double digits victory.

The 2025 Junior B Champions came flying out of the traps from the throw up with a direct ball into sharp shooter Andy Brien and Brien turned on a sixpence and tapped over for the opening score with just over 10 seconds gone in the game, Brien doubled his tally and D'Mary's tally shortly after and it was looking like all one way traffic as the East Meath side went 0-02 to 0-00 up.

Kells registered their first score of the game through Harry Butler in the fifth minute and Ajay Tormey equalised one minute later to leave the teams level. A two pointer free from Brien and another point from D'Mary's in the 18th minute left the visitors three clear while Kells rued missed chances. Two points in quick succession left just one between the sides with Liam Devine and Conor Óg Ferguson scoring for Kells.

The turning point of the game came in the 25th minute after good work from Keelan Sheridan and Sean Cleary, Cleary laid the ball off to the onrushing Tormey who went to the keepers near side and rattle the back of the net to see Kells take the lead for the first time. Butler then had a golden chance for Kells second goal after Seamus Hannon laid the ball off to the youngster but his left footed effort went wide. Credit to Butler he dusted himself off and struck the final score of the half with a lovely left footed effort to see Kells ahead 1-05 to 0-05 at the break.

The Gaeils got the perfect start to the second half when centre back Fionn Smith who is finding himself on the scoresheet for the thrid consecutive game saw his pointed effort loop into the back of the net beyond the helpless Mary's keeper. Mary's responded with a point but Ajay Tormey got a fine point to add to his first half tally opening the gap to five points.

Liam Devine and Conor Óg Ferguson then got their second points of the match and in the 40th minute Devine struck over a free for his third of the game. A two pointer from D'Mary's kept them in sight but points from Devine and an advanced mark from Cleary left double scores between the teams as Kells led 18 points to 9.

Kells substitutes got in on the act with Ryan Farnham hitting a wonderful two pointer while Shane Reilly struck a lovely score off his left foot. Zak Griffin rounded up the proceedings with a point that resulted in Referee Peter O'Halloran blowing the full time whistle.
