Kilmainhamwood 2-21 Cortown 0-9
Kilmainhamwood hosted Cortown on Sunday morning at the earlier time of 10am.
The hour earlier of a start showed for both teams as both were slow to get going. Cortown opened the scoring by way of a free kick. This kicked Kilmainhamwood into life and opened the scoring via Rian Stafford followed quickly by a point from Dylan Ogle and an Aidan Roche free. Cortown had a penalty but for the second week in a row Josh Clarke in the Wood net made a big save to send the ball out for a 45. The Cortown keeper hit the 45 to keep Cortown in touching distance. This was as close as they got as a combination of scores from Stafford, Darragh Smith and Dylan Ogle started to put day light between the teams. Rian Stafford hit 2 tidy 2 pointers to cement Kilmainhamwoods lead approaching half time.
Half time: Kilmainhamwood 0-12 Cortown 0-2
To open the 2nd half new transfer to the club Joe Shankey got in on the scoring action adding 1-2 to the score sheet to put the result beyond doubt. At this point the Kilmainhamwood management team opted to empty out the bench. With these changes happening Cortown tagged on a few scores of their own to bridge the gap between the teams. Kilmainhamwood regained composure and added scores from Aidan Roche, a Rian Stafford goal and a Shane Townley point. Noah Madden playing from corner back made a foray up the field and added a nice point of his own to cap off a very good performance from his new corner back position. Jack Gillespie and Niall Bennett both introduced as subs came in and added a point each to boost the score difference on the league table.
